AC and the Vega

Karen Penley
Karen Penley has made circuses. Circuses with dancers and singers (jeff wagner of the tunnel and tunnel of love) and actors (solomon landeman in hbo's boardwalk empire) and bands (20 minute loop) (bill horvitz) and animation (sean jones). She made two full odd circuses, Circus Proboscis: A Sneeze of Freaks and Not the More Lovely: A Circus Sideshow. Proboscis won a TBA Cash Grant and the SFBG said this of Not the More Lovely, "this glad, jagged-toothed mockery of human folly comes fast, fresh and unexpected." Now she's making her own one girl show, Feral Girl and Old Man. There is a circus in the middle of it. She is also working on a solo show being written by the great John Okeefe. And is joining an all boy pirate band, Boarding Party. karenpenley.com.

Four of his short musical plays have been staged including DayGlo Yodel and Apostasy of the Sea Monkeys. His band Underthings released the CD Beautiful Grotesque in 2012. He is currently working on a full-length funk-rock opera based on the 5000 year-old Epic of Gilgamesh. Tonight he is joined by Los Angeles-based vocalist Nicole Cassese and Sonoma County bee-keeper Jason Berkman on the drums.
